Next February 28th, MyBillofRights.org* will present The Bill of Rights Comedy Concert at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C. Inspired by a similar event at Symphony Hall in Phoenix in 2012 which paved the way for America’s first monument celebrating The Bill of Rights, the concert will be headlined by legendary satirist Lewis Black, who will be joined by a host of other exceptional talents.
This event will mark the launch of our Matching Fund Endowment, a truly historic effort to bring The Bill of Rights in monumental display to every State Capitol in America. These monuments will be visited by millions of people a year for generations to come, including school children of all ages, as well as the public servants who work at these centers of America’s civic life.
Top level donors will also be invited to a private reception at the National Archives in February 27th, with access to all the main galleries, including those with originals of The Bill of Rights, The Constitution, The Declaration of Independence, and Magna Carta. The Archives only grants a handful of permits for such events, so this will be a very special evening for all involved.
Nothing speaks louder about a unique project like this than who its friends are. We are most proud of our ongoing support from Newman’s Own Foundation, which has awarded us four consecutive annual grants. We’re equally gratified that artists such as Lewis Black and legends Dick Gregory and Tom Smothers continue to lend their voices to this effort; and for the commitments of Mark Krantz (producer of the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize), Michael Jensen, and Live Nation to be this event’s producers.
